There was something very European about watching Portugal vs. the Netherlands game in Finland, with a German friend, surrounded by Portuguese and Dutch fans talking to each other in English. We couldn't quite decide who to root for. I wasn't sure if my Brazilian allegiances meant I was supposed to root *for* or *against* the Portuguese. The Dutch fans smirking about Germany being "out" settled it for us. Which was a good choice, since it was soon clear that the Dutch were going to lose, which they did. Plus there were way too many Dutch fans in the bar anyway, and they were a pretty annoying bunch.
