This beautiful church (the biggest in Ghent) was built between 1440 and 1650 on the site of an older church (back from 11th century when Ghent was already quite prosperous), which was destroyed by fire. The handout we got at the church described its style as “late-gothic,” and we jokingly applied this label to many churches we saw later on our trip.
