Bruges (spelled “Brugge” in Dutch and pronounced “broo-guh”) is a major tourist attraction in Flanders. The town was supposedly one of the biggest cities in Europe a thousand years ago but then declined when the sea moved away from it. It is impeccably restored and full of beautiful buildings with gold everywhere.
