Buying a Router in Rio Don't put anything here Don't put anything here Page Content Page Name (for URL) Page Title Breadcrumb Text While some things here are very cheap (e.g. the above mentioned espresso for $0.60), others can be quite pricey. Today I went looking for an router in a place that everyone told me had the cheapest electronics, and discovered that cheapest wireless routers sold for R$360 - US$150. Having bought my last wireless router at Fries for just a bit over 50 bucks, this felt like a complete rip off. I ended up settling for a router without wi-fi - for half that price. The worst part: having come home, I discovered that I can actually connect both laptops to the network without a router - the provider seems to not mind issuing two IP addresses. (I will have to check if they are somehow charging us for it.) And if I try putting the router in it all stops working.
