Rio de Janeiro offers many breathtaking views, and some people are lucky enough to see one of those views from their window. An office at the top of Edificio Cardeal Leme of Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). I visited a few weeks ago has one of the three best office views I've encountered in my six months in Rio. (The other two great views were from windows of people I interviewed, so no pictures as I need to keep interviewees' identity confidential.)
Those are obviously not all views from the same window: rather, it’s parts of a 360 view offered by a balcony that encircles the top floor of the building. PUC is located in Gavea, western end of Zona Sul. We thus get a view of Tijuca Forest, Corcovado (second row) with the statue of Jesus showing in the openings between the clouds, the lake (Lagoa), then the back side of Leblon. In the back there is again forest, interrupted by Rocinha.
