We are taking off for Bolivia first thing in the morning tomorrow. We are flying into Santa Cruz and coming back from Lima. We haven’t quite worked out the itinerary in between, though we know we want to go to La Paz, Cusco and Machu Picchu. You can see our most ambitious plan on a marked-up map of Bolivia and a marked-up map of Peru. Since I've drawn this map the reality has set in and I realized that this road is too long for 24 days, so our actual itinerary will be much simpler, e.g. we'll most probably skip Uyuni, Arequipa and Nazca We are also considering taking a couple of plane short-cuts: e.g. flying from Santa Cruz to Sucre and from Cusco to Lima.

Anyway, back to work: I need to finish a conference paper and write an abstract for another before I go to sleep.

I do not expect to update the blog until we are back (Dec. 24), but there will hopefully be lots of pictures then.
