Over the past few years San Francisco developed a weird tradition of a massive pillow fight on Valentine’s Day which started a few years ago flash-mod style, but by now has become a massive and prepared event. Some of my friends decided to attend the events in lab coats and hard hats and conspicuously observe it as “scientists.” I joined them and took photos of the event in the same attire (“scientifically” – with a monopod). We ended up being an odd group within an already odd event, or, one could say, a mini-flashmob inside a larger flash mob. People reacted with amusement to the coats, using our hats as a local landmark (“Look for three guys with yellow hard hats, I am next to them.”) One guy asked me if we organized this whole event. When I said “Yes”, he asked “Why?”
